Introduction

This review concerns the 15-inch M4 MacBook Air introduced in 2025, not the newer M5 model. It belongs in this shortlist because some readers value a larger built-in screen more than the smallest carrying format. Whether a particular older unit is a good purchase depends on its actual configuration, condition and terms; the generation name alone does not establish value.

Research basis: DelaTechHQ has not physically tested these laptops. This article interprets manufacturer documentation accessed on 24 September 2026. It contains no measured performance or battery results. Product photographs are credited third-party images, not our test units.

Key specifications

Apple documents a 15.3-inch IPS display at 2880 × 1864 pixels, 500 nits and P3 color. The historical configuration starts with 16GB memory and a 256GB SSD, with memory options up to 32GB and storage up to 2TB. Listed mass is 1.51kg, subject to variation. See Apple’s model-specific specification and the 15-inch M4 product record.

Design and build

The larger format is the reason to consider this model. A bigger diagonal can be useful when you prefer larger text or keep reference material next to your main document, but effective workspace depends on scaling and layout. Try the arrangement you actually use. We have not assessed hinge feel, keyboard comfort, display accuracy or wear on any unit.

Features and everyday implications

Apple lists two Thunderbolt 4 sockets, MagSafe charging and support for two external displays up to 6K at 60Hz alongside the internal screen. This makes it possible to plan a multi-screen desk without giving up the laptop display. The exact dock, cables and monitor settings still require compatibility checking; a port count does not certify every accessory combination.

Compared with the 13-inch M5 Air, the larger M4 asks you to carry more mass and width in exchange for its built-in screen. We do not infer application speed from chip names or claim that the larger chassis improves sustained performance. Read the comparison for the explicit size-versus-portability decision.

Strengths and limitations

Its documented memory options and display connections support the same capability rubric as the smaller M5 Air. The limitation is purchase uncertainty around an older model. A listing saying only “M4 Air” is insufficient: confirm size, memory, SSD, included charger, condition and return terms. For a used machine, ask for relevant device-condition information rather than assuming the manufacturer’s original specification describes the unit’s present state.

Who it suits and who should consider alternatives

Consider it when you want a larger integrated workspace and have found a specific offer worth evaluating. For frequent travel or small work surfaces, begin with the smaller Air. If a current 15-inch model is similarly priced after matching configuration and terms, compare that option too; this three-product guide does not cover the whole market. Readers with limited peripheral needs can also examine the Neo.

Conclusion and score

Editorial capability score: 4/5. Our modest document/browser/calls brief starts at 3/5 for a portable Mac with an integrated screen and external-display support. We add 0.5 for a documented memory option of at least 16GB (available) and 0.5 for two external displays alongside the internal screen (available). This is configuration flexibility, not measured speed, value for money or a customer rating. Research-only scores are capped at 4/5. Battery, thermals, keyboard feel and reliability are unscored.

The score describes documented configuration flexibility, not the condition or value of an older unit. The larger screen is a useful reason to investigate this model; an assumed bargain is not. No current offer is configured, and the historical price visible in the credited photograph is not a quotation.

Pros

  • Larger built-in screen for readers who prefer working without a monitor.
  • Dedicated charging and two external-display support suit a desk setup.

Cons

  • Heavier and wider than the 13-inch M5 model.
  • Older model: configuration, condition and actual purchase terms need individual checking.

Verdict

Research-based editorial score, 4/5 for documented capability. The larger screen may suit desk-focused readers; older-model condition and actual seller terms remain decisive and unverified.
